Art Nouveau plique-a-jour enamel, ruby and diamond Butterfly pendant / brooch mounted in 18ct gold by Masriara. Spanish. Circa 1900-1920. Signed MASRIARA and numbered. The naturalistic butterfly set throughout with rubies and diamonds. Fitted with a traditional brooch fitting and pendant loops on with wing to be hung from a chain as a pendant. Measuring 42mm by 30mm. Luis Masriara is arguably Spain’s finest jeweller of the 19th and 20th century. Specialists in plique-a-jour enamel work and beautiful coloured insects in the Art Nouveau style.
